New law banned their sale of alcohol – but the bar’s genius solution bamboozled the police

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan. When that happens, you’d better get creative and ready to find new solutions. That way, you’ll be able to get things under control again.

The Indian Supreme Court recently ruled that alcohol may not be sold within 550 yards of national and state highways, with the purpose of reducing alcohol-related traffic accidents.

The ruling has led to many establishments having to close down, but some don’t give up so easily.

Aishwarya Restobar, a restaurant in the state of Kerala, decided to build a 330 yards long labyrinth between the highway and their restaurant. This means that the walking distance from the highway is 550 yards – which in turn means that they are legally allowed to sell alcohol.

What’s more, you might have a hard time getting through the maze when you’re drunk. This kills two birds with one stone – if you’re not sober enough to handle the maze, you know you’re not sober enough to drive!

I think this is pure genius – and a creative way for the restaurant to continue operating.
